TESTING WITH HIGH VOLTAGE DIFFERENTIAL PROBES

  • SAFETY FIRST! ALWAYS KEEP YOUR HANDS CLEAR FROM THE INPUT LEADS WHILE TESTING, AND THE TEST UNIT IS UNDER POWER. DO NOT TOUCH ANY OF THE METAL PARTS ON THE PROBE. THE OUTPUT MUST BE CONNECTED TO A GROUNDED SYSTEM. WORN OUT WIRES AND INPUT PROBES CAN BE A SAFETY HAZARD.

  • TWIST THE INPUT LEADS TOGETHER ONLY IF NEEDED.

  • CHECK THE PROBE OFFSET. FOR THE BEST MEASUREMENT ACCURACY SUBTRACT THE PROBE OUTPUT OFFSET FROM THE MEASUREMENT.

  • BE AWARE OF THE PROBE INPUT RESONANCE. IT CAN RANGE FROM 50MHz TO 200MHz.

  • USE THE SHORTEST INPUT CLIPS/PROBES THAT CAN DO THE JOB. LONG CLIPS WILL ADD STRAY INDUCTANCE AND CAPACITANCE AND AFFECT THE MEASUREMENTS.

  • UNDER LARGE AND FAST COMMON MODE TRANSIENTS MOST OF THE DIFFERENTIAL PROBES AVAILABLE ON THE MARKET CAN SHOW ARTIFACTS, LIKE GLITCHES THAT ARE NOT THE TRUE REPRESENTATION OF THE DIFFERENTIAL SIGNAL THAT IS BEING MEASURED. OUR PROBES ARE DESIGNED TO PROVIDE EXCELLENT IMMUNITY TO HIGH SLEW RATE COMMON MODE INPUT TRANSIENTS.
